Proposal at Garfield Park Conservatory and Sunken Gardens
Proposals are one of our favorite things to shoot so we were SO excited when Donald reached out to see if we could capture his! He proposed to his girlfriend Kierstin at the Garfield Park Conservatory and Sunken Gardens in Indianapolis, Indiana. We had the plan all set - the exact spot where he would pop the question down in the Sunken Gardens. The only problem? When I arrived I found the gardens were completely torn out and under construction! π I tried sending a covert email to warn him but it was too late, so instead of waiting out in the gardens I lingered at the entrance to the greenhouse and waited for them to arrive. As they began their casual stroll through the beautiful conservatory I quietly stalked them, like a lion and her prey (yes, being a proposal photographer can feel creepy sometimes - but the smoke and mirrors is also part of the fun π).
When they got to the window overlooking the Sunken Gardens, I watched as the wheels spun in Donaldβs brain and he quickly figured out a new plan. I followed them through another loop before he got to his new spot and popped the question.
Kierstin was SO surprised and overjoyed! The ring was beautiful, the location was perfect, and we had a blast shooting engagement photos all around the greenhouse and the rest of Garfield Park that wasnβt under construction. Throughout the shoot you could see their love for each other overflowing.
Donald had mentioned wanting a more vintage/film look for his engagement photos, so I switched up my editing style a bit and ended up with some photos that I think perfectly capture them and their day.
